The Women's 800m Freestyle event at the 2003 Pan American Games took place on August 16, 2003 (Day 15 of the Games). Morgan Hentzen (USA) caught Rachel Burke (USA) at the 500 mark to move into the lead touching in 8:36.54 to 8:37.61. Kristel Kobrich (CHI) was third in 8:43.90 for their first ever Pan Am swimming medal.
